Paiste: A Tradition of Excellent Cymbals

Background
Paiste's roots go back to the early 1900's in the country of Estonia where Michail M. Paiste developed a Turkish-style cymbal as part of his father's music business. The cymbals were initially marketed for marching band an orchestra use, but eventually became a serious provider to the drum set market.
World War II caused the business to be relocated to Poland and then northern Germany. The company then built a manufacturing facility in Switzerland in 1957 where it exported cymbals all over the world. Michail's son's Robert and Toomas later join in the the family business to carry the legacy forward.
Paiste established Paiste America in 1981 where it developed a strong presence in the U.S. market. Since then it has built facilities in the Paiste family's home country of Estonia. Cymbal manufacturing plants have also been started in Spain and Germany.

Cymbal Models
Cast Bronze
Paiste makes cast bronze cymbal models to meet the demands of many situations. Drummers can easily find their niche the following:
- Traditional Series- recapture the popular sound of bop music from the 1930's - 1960's. Paiste describes them as dark, complex, warm, smoky, with special emphasis on control and stick feeling.
- Dimensions Series- developed for modern music styles, the Deminsions have a rich harmonics witha full complex sound.
- Alpha Series- a resonably priced cymbal designed for a broad range of applications. They are hand hammered and hand lathed.
- Rude Series- created for the punk sound of the late 1970's and 1980's. They are not lathed for uniform thickness and focus on the extreme mid-range frequencies and volume levels.
- Innovations Series- called "Innovations" because they blend traditional cymbal making with modern methods. They have a full sound with rich harmonics.
- Signature Series- the first to made with Paiste's patented cymbal alloy in 1989. They can be used for all musical styles, performing well under delicate and explosive situations.
