Like all other electronic drum makers, Hart Dynamics has to rely on the same core technology to create their drum set. However, these guys have improved many aspects of the electronic drum kit to create multiple trademark products.
Hart Dynamics offers the widest range of electronic drum set configurations of the four companies reviewed. Three models have been selected as good examples of their low, medium, and high level kits. Starting with...
Prodigy Series
The entry level Prodigy model is one of the more affordable electric drum kits on the market, even after you add a module.
As you'll notice in the picture to the right, this Prodidy kit resembles a Remo practice pad kit.
A nice feature of this drum set is that mesh heads are used instead of gum rubber material. The woven heads are made by Hart Dynamics specfically for this model.
A gum rubber pad and remote foot pedal is used for the hi hat. This setup is a far cry from realistic, but common at this price point.
The drum module shown in the picture is an Alesis DM5 and is recommended as the best match for this kit. Although it doesn't come from the factory with the DM5, you can usually find a "package deal" that includes the module. Learn more about the DM5 and other Electronic Drum Modules Here. Custom Series
The mid-level set offered by Hart Dynamics is similiar to the top level kits made by other companies. The Custom Series is entirely different than the Prodigy from the ground up.
Hart's patented Acupad is used for the toms and kick. Since a drum shell isn't needed to create tone, hart took a triple flanged hoop and mounted it over their own mesh drum head with a plastic platform to anchor it all.

A really nice bonus for this kit is the acoustic-styled snare. The Hart Dynamics "Pro Snare" is 13" and rests on a regular snare stand. The head and hoop are triggered to allow for rim-shots or cross sticking. If you're only in the market for an great electronic snare, you can buy it separately .
Another notable upgrade is the cymbals. Three of Hart's E-Cymbals are used for the crashes and ride, then a smaller cymbal is used for the hi hat. Pintech has a similar styled hi hat on their entry level Spirit USA kit. Want a good deal on this kit? Here's the place .
Professional Series
Hart Dynamics' best electronic drum set takes the concept of the Pro Snare and applies it to the kick and tom pads.
The ride cymbal has a separate trigger for the bell to mimic the tones and feel of a metal cymbal. Every part of this kit is top notch with the exception of the hi hat.
The single 10" cymbal is used with a remote foot pedal. Given that the entire set (minus a module) is still much less than other's high end kits, it may be worth your while to buy the kit, then upgrade the hi hat to one of the technologies discussed on the Electronic Cymbals Page.
Hart Dynamics' Gig Pro drum kit, which uses the best of their technology, can be purchased HERE !
